Although we always recommend that people consult the professionals when it comes to tasks such as laying a concrete driveway, we also think that it is important that the customers are kept in the loop of the process that will be undertaken. Here is part one of the concrete driveway process carried out by most landscapers…
- The area of your driveway will be cleared of any homely appliances such as rubbish bins, children’s play toys and general mess. After this, the drive will be excavated eight inches deep in preparation for the concrete.
- Aggregate, such as sand or gravel, is set down and a machine is used in order to compact it and level it out. This then forms a solid base at the bottom of the 8 inch deep hole.
- Concrete shuttering is then pinned in place in order to ensure the shape required is obtained. Drainage is also put in place at the same time.
- After the preparation is completed, the concrete which had been delivered to the work site is poured, levelled and floated. Floating is when the surface is polished off to ensure a smooth finish.
- The concrete is poured four inches thick and then rolled to remove any bubbles. At the same time, any moisture is brought to the surface which allows the concrete to be printed and built into the driveway.
