In a quick summary, you could say that block paving is our expertise here at Stone Made Drives- however we always wonder how much our clients actually know about the art of block paving. Unknown to many, there are actually many different designs and patterns that can be implemented during this type of driveway installation and in this blog, we’re going to go over a few of them…
Herringbone Paving Patterns
These patterns are created using 2:1 blocks which simply means that the blocks used are twice as long than they are as wide. With interlocking patterns, there are two different types to choose from known as the 90 degree herringbone and 45 degree herringbone. Each gives a different characteristic to a driveway and allows for subtle colour changes to be implemented in order to enhance the overall finish.
Stretcher Bond and Basket Weave
Mainly used for outdoor public areas, these types of paving patterns allow for either simplistic or extravagant displays. They make the perfect addition any patio too and the basket weave in particular appears to utilise intricate pattern to complete a design to the highest standard.
Random Stretcher Bond
Similar to the regular stretcher bond, this paving pattern utilises random combinations of different sizes paving blocks in order to create an intentional haphazard looking driveway.
