The project to transform the small garden in Leyland, Lancashire, involved the installation of artificial grass over an old, worn-out patio.
This is the steps we completed to complete the project:
- Assessment and Planning:
- The initial step involved assessing the existing patio condition, determining the area to be covered, and planning the layout for the artificial grass.
- Measurements were taken to ensure precise cutting and fitting of the artificial grass.
- Preparation:
- The old patio tiles were broken up and removed, as seen in the second image.
- The ground was then leveled and cleared of any debris to create a smooth, even surface suitable for the installation.
- Base Installation:
- A suitable base was prepared to support the artificial grass. This involved laying a sub-base of crushed stone or aggregate, followed by compacting it to create a stable foundation.
- A layer of sand was spread over the compacted base to ensure a smooth surface, providing a cushioning effect and aiding in proper drainage.
- Laying the Artificial Grass:
- The artificial grass was rolled out and carefully positioned over the prepared base.
- The edges were trimmed to fit the specific dimensions of the garden area, ensuring a snug fit against the boundaries.
- Securing and Finishing:
- The artificial grass was secured in place using landscape pins or adhesive, particularly along the edges and seams, to prevent any movement or lifting.
- The grass fibers were brushed to ensure they stand upright, giving a natural look and feel.
- Any excess sand or debris was cleared, and the area was thoroughly cleaned to finalize the installation.
The transformation resulted in a fresh, green, and low-maintenance garden space, significantly improving the aesthetics and usability of the area. The installation of artificial grass not only enhanced the garden’s appearance but also provided a durable and practical solution for the homeowners in Leyland, Lancashire.
